译文
黄昏时分，猿声凄切，江边送客早已四散。江水滚滚，一片苍茫，独自更觉伤心悲凉。
同被贬逐漂泊，只是君行更远。青山万里，我真是挂念你的一叶扁舟。
注释
重送：是指因为这以前诗人已写过一首同题的五言律诗。刘、裴曾一起被召回长安又同遭贬谪，同病相怜，发为歌吟，感情真挚动人。
裴郎中：不详何人，大致为诗人的朋友。二人同时被贬官。
吉州：治所在今江西吉安。
暮江：日落时的江边。
逐臣：被贬官而同时离开京城的人。指作者与裴郎中同时被贬。
重送裴郎中贬吉州鉴赏
首句描写氛围。“猿啼”写声音，“客散”写情状，“暮”字点明时间，“江头”交代地点。七个字，没有一笔架空，将送别的环境，点染得“黯然销魂”。猿啼常与悲凄之情相关。《荆州记》载渔者歌曰：“巴东三峡巫峡长，猿鸣三声泪沾裳！”何况如今听到猿声的，又是处于逆境中的迁客，纵然不浪浪泪下，也难免要怆然动怀了。“客散暮江头”，也都不是纯客观的景物描写。
第二句“人自伤心水自流”，切合规定情景中的地点“江头”，这就越发显出上下两句有水乳交融之妙。此时日暮客散，友人远去，自己还留在江头，更感到一种难堪的孤独，只好独自伤心了，而无情的流水却只管载着离人不停地流去。两个“自”字，使各不相干的“伤心”与“水流”联系到了一起，以无情水流反衬人之“伤心”，以自流之水极写无可奈何的伤心之情。
三四句从“伤心”两字一气贯下，以前两句更推进一步。第三句在“远”字前缀一“更”字，自己被逐已经不幸，而裴郎中被贬谪的地方更远，着重写出对方的不幸，从而使同病相怜之情，依依惜别之意，表现得更为丰富、深刻。末句“青山万里一孤舟”与第二句的“水自流”相照应，而“青山万里”又紧承上句“更远”而来，既写尽了裴郎中旅途的孤寂，伴送他远去的只有万里青山，又表达了诗人恋恋不舍的深情。随着孤帆远影在望中消失，诗人的心何尝没有随着眼前青山的延伸，与被送者一道渐行渐远！
从通篇来看，基本上采用了直陈其事的赋体，紧紧扣住江边送别的特定情景来写，使写景与抒情自然而巧妙地结合在一起。情挚意深，别有韵味。前人论刘长卿“诗体虽不新奇，甚能炼饰”（高仲武《中兴间气集》）。此诗写得如此清新自然，正见他的“炼饰”功夫。

刘长卿(约726 — 约786)，字文房，汉族，宣城（今属安徽）人，唐代诗人。后迁居洛阳，河间（今属河北）为其郡望。玄宗天宝年间进士。肃宗至德中官监察御史，后为长洲县尉，因事下狱，贬南巴尉。代宗大历中任转运使判官，知淮西、鄂岳转运留后，又被诬再贬睦州司马。德宗建中年间，官终随州刺史，世称刘随州。
