宁知心断绝，夜夜泣胡笳。
晚度天山有怀京邑鉴赏
首联“忽上天山路，依然想物华”意为：忽然登上了天山，向南远眺，心绪愁闷，不由想起京城中那美丽的自然景色。“忽”字形象、生动，由于天山高峻，往上攀爬时感到遥如登天，到达山顶时，眼前景色一下子开阔起来，有豁然开朗之感。可惜瞬间的惊异、喜悦之余，诗人又陷入了对京城的思念。开宗明义，直指题目。
次联“云疑上苑叶，雪似御沟花”意为：天山上云层舒展，让人疑心是上林苑中浓密的树叶，那飘扬的雪花恰似长安护城河中随波荡漾的落花。此二句紧扣“想物华”三字，驰骋想象，笔墨跌宕。
三联“行叹戎麾远，坐怜衣带赊”意为：行军途中常常慨叹军营离京城十分遥远，因为叹息、忧虑，我的衣带都变得松弛不少。行军辛苦，忧思边人，以致形容枯槁。
四联“交河浮绝塞，弱水浸流沙”意为：交河水流向远处，消失在荒僻的塞外，弱水里浸着流动的细沙。如此悲壮、凄凉的绝域景象与诗人记忆中京城的车水马龙、花团锦簇之景差别巨大，难怪诗人又“叹”又“怜”，以致“衣带赊”了。
五联“旅思徒漂梗，归期未及瓜”意为：旅途之中像木偶人一样漂泊不定，遥想离任满交接回归的日子还长着呢。这是诗人对从戎在外，生活起伏，不知何时可以结束的忧伤、惆怅，用典巧妙，让人觉得漂泊之人的凄凉境遇古今都是一样的。
末联“宁知心断绝，夜夜泣胡笳”意为：这种生活令人心思断绝，每当夜里听到那悲凉的胡笳之音，禁不住潸然泪下。诗人在历数自己一路转徙的生活之后，悲哀、伤感之情终于不可抑制，随着泪水喷涌而出。那般痛彻心扉的悲怆之情随着胡笳之音萦绕在读者心头，余韵悠远。
诗人对怀想中的京城的描写仅是浮光掠影似的凌空一笔，而且还是由眼前冷漠、凄寒之景联想而生，其他的笔墨都重重涂抹在对绝域之地的迷茫、苍凉之景的描绘上。这凌空一笔恰如黑暗中的一道闪电，令人更加感到黑暗的恐怖，但正是这一闪给人无穷的希望和勇气，也正是这一点光亮激励着诗人继续努力向前，立功异域，荣归故里。

骆宾王（约619—约687年）字观光，汉族，婺州义乌人（今浙江义乌）。唐初诗人，与王勃、杨炯、卢照邻合称“初唐四杰”。又与富嘉谟并称“富骆”。高宗永徽中为道王李元庆府属，历武功、长安主簿，仪凤三年，入为侍御史，因事下狱，次年遇赦，调露二年除临海丞，不得志，辞官。有集。骆宾王于武则天光宅元年，为起兵扬州反武则天的徐敬业作《代李敬业传檄天下文》，敬业败，亡命不知所之，或云被杀，或云为僧。
