译文
女贞花白点缀在草地之中，星星点点。江南的梅雨时节，天光阴暗像帘幕低垂。天上的燕子低低的飞过。
红色楼阁，青色的窗台外面，游人坐着小舟回家。清澈的溪水转弯的柳树底下，窗台中有佳人正在画眉梳妆。
注释
阮郎归：词牌名，又名“碧桃春”“宴桃源”“濯缨曲”等。以李煜词《阮郎归·呈郑王十二弟》为正体，双调四十七字，前段四句四平韵，后段五句四平韵。
女贞：木名。
梅雨：初夏产生的江淮流域雨期较长的连阴雨天气。
阴阴：幽暗貌。
行人：出行之人。
低：通底。

阮郎归·女贞花白草迷离创作背景
据乃誉《日记》，乙巳（1905年）六月初二，静安自苏返海宁。当时场景正好与词人描写一致，可见此行王国维所感而作。

阮郎归·女贞花白草迷离鉴赏
这首词像一幅中国山水画，林花掩映，清溪数曲，江南千里，尽在目中。素雅冲淡的画面中略点醒目的朱碧，幽静安谧的气氛中隐藏飞动的情意，使没有到过江南的读者也能从中领略到江南风景的美丽、幽静与多情。
白花绿草是清新淡雅的色彩，女贞具有四季常青的品质，万家帘幕低垂又给人一种幽静和内敛的感受。便何况，这一切又被笼罩在无边无际的朦胧细雨之中。把雨中江南山水比作一个娴静、储蓄的美女，那么“穿帘双燕飞”一句则给这美女增加了一种动态和生气，从而引出了近景中的人物。
这是一幅册水画而不是人物画，人物也是景。作为一幅画，读者的视线可以越过树杪看到远水中的一舸归舟，而那远水在林花柳阴的掩映遮蔽曲折断续，直流到近景的朱阁碧窗之下，窗内有人对镜画眉。
总之，江南水乡钟灵毓秀，风景美，人物也美。这幅可以引起读者的种种遐想：喜欢爱情故事的人不妨想像画眉女子正在等待那一舸归舟中的行人，从而演绎出一个爱情的故事；喜欢江山风景的人不妨从中体会江南山水的蕴藏与灵秀；相思离别者则不妨因此而怀念起故乡与亲人。
这首词的好处在于，它看起来完全是写景，而且那景色悠闲淡雅，颇近于“修然见南山”的无我之境；但从穿帘双燕和当窗画眉人的形象中，又似隐隐流露出一种感情和心愿，从而使整个景色不但有自然之美，而且还有一种委婉绵长的情意之美，令读者觉得既清新淡雅又余味悠长，读起来很有远韵。
