译文
人从出生到逝去，都要经历人世间的这段时光。可岁月悠悠，人生易老。时光就那样，它只懂得催人老，不相信世间有多情的人。常常在长亭短亭的离别后而伤感，离别后每次酒后（我）就因思念而泪湿春衫呢。
昨夜西风急，在梧桐锁寒秋的深院里，刮了整整一夜，几次次从梦里把人吹醒，醒来只看到窗外月明，朦朦胧胧，幽幽的，淡淡的。在我这高楼上，突然不知道从何处传来一声雁叫（更添了夜醒人的凄凉和孤寂）。
注释
采桑子：词牌名，又名《丑奴儿令》、《罗敷艳歌》、《罗敷媚》。四十四字，前后片各三平韵。别有添字格，两结句各添二字，两平韵，一叠韵。
离亭：古代送别之所。
春衫：年少时穿的衣服，代指衣服。
胧明：微明。

采桑子·时光只解催人老创作背景
作者由于离别后音信难得，由此产生离别之思。于此同时，作者又把离别与时光无情、年华渐老联系起来，形成了双重的无奈和感伤。此词就是在作者这两种感情的影响下写出的。

采桑子·时光只解催人老鉴赏
此词以轻巧空灵的笔法、深蕴含蓄的感情，写出了富有概括意义的人生感慨，抒发了叹流年、悲迟暮、伤离别的复杂情感。全词感情悲凉而不凄厉，风格清丽哀怨，体物写意自然贴切，是晏殊词中引人注目的名篇之一。
起首二句把时光拟人化，暗含“多情自古伤离别”和“思君令人老”双重含义。“多情”二字，总摄全篇。
三、四两句写词人感时光易逝，怅亲爱分离，心中的烦恼无可化解，只好借酒浇愁，然而不久便又“泪滴春衫”，可见连酒也无法使自己暂时解脱。
下片先写不眠，次写惊梦。西风飒飒，桐叶萧萧，一股凉意直透人的心底。抬头一看，窗外淡淡月色，朦胧而又惨淡，仿佛它也受到西风的威胁。
“好梦频惊”写每当希望“好梦”多留一霎的时候，它就突然破灭了。而且每当一回破灭，现实的不幸之感就又一齐奔集而来。此时，室外的各种音响，各样色彩，以及室中人时光流逝之感，GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人离别之痛，春酒易醒之恨，把刚才的好梦全都打成碎片了。这里，“好梦频惊”四字为点睛之笔，承上启下，把室中人此际的感受放大成为一个特写的镜头，让人们充分感受其中沉重的分量。
“何处高楼雁一声”写室中人沉抑的情绪正凌乱交织之中，突然飞出一声高亢的哀鸣。这一声哀厉的长鸣，是如此突如其来，使众响为之沉寂，万类为之失色。这是孤雁的哀唳，响彻天际，透入人心，它把室中人的思绪提升到一个顶峰了。这一声代表什么呢？是感觉秋已经更深吗？是预告离人终于不返吗？还是加剧室中人此时此地的孤独之感呢？不管怎样，它让人们想得很远、很沉，一种怅惘之情使人不能自已。
综上，此词上片概述时光之无情，下片写春去秋来，触景生情，相思难禁。词中“长恨离亭”、“好梦频惊”等句，用意超脱高远，表现了一种明净澄彻而又富于概括意义的人生境界。
