译文
风度翩翩的战国四公子，在那个战乱的时代成就了自己的贤达之名。那时龙争虎斗，战国七雄相互抗衡。但他们之所以成就自己的万古美名，多是依靠他们招徕的门下食客。孟尝君出函谷关，依靠门客学鸡叫，才得以顺利通过。信陵君救赵国后，留居赵国，后秦攻打魏国，魏王召信陵君回来，秦兵不再敢伐魏。秦兵攻打赵国的都城邯郸，平原君到楚地求救，靠毛遂说服了楚王，楚国才出兵相救。春申君曾经游说秦王，才使楚国太子得以还楚。游侠之士真是贤明，但他们为什么反而要崇尚四公子呢？我则与那些游侠士不同，我喜好古人，以老子、彭祖为师。
注释
四公子：指战国时期的孟尝君、平原君、信陵君和春申君。
七国：指战国七雄。
纵横：指无拘无束地施展自己的才能。
“孟尝”两句：指孟尝君出函谷关，依靠门客学鸡叫，才得以顺利通过。
“信陵”两句：指信陵君救赵国后，留居赵国，后秦攻打魏国，魏王召信陵君回来，秦兵不再敢伐魏。
赵胜：即平原君。
诅：以福祸之言在神前相约定。
黄歇：指春申君。
荆：楚国别名。
老、彭：老子、彭祖。

张华（232年－300年），字茂先。范阳方城（今河北固安）人。西晋时期政治家、文学家、藏书家。西汉留侯张良的十六世孙，唐朝名相张九龄的十四世祖。张华工于诗赋，词藻华丽。编纂有中国第一部博物学著作《博物志》。《隋书·经籍志》有《张华集》十卷，已佚，明人张溥辑有《张茂先集》。张华雅爱书籍，精通目录学，曾与荀勖等人依照刘向《别录》整理典籍。《宣和书谱》载有其草书《得书帖》及行书《闻时帖》。
