欣欣向荣的典故

陶渊明是古时候的一位大诗人，当过好几种官，由于对黑暗现实不满，毅然辞官回乡。

回到家里，他一边饮酒，一边观赏院子里茂盛的树木，心中十分的高兴。

酒足饭饱之后，他来到田园，满眼春景使他生出感慨：木欣欣以向荣，泉涓涓而始流。意思是，春天来了，树木小草长得十分茂盛，山泉小溪里的水正在细细长流。

后来人们就把木欣欣以向荣这句话简化为欣欣向荣这个成语，用来比喻事业的蓬勃发展。
