平易近人的成语故事

平易近人的典故

西周初，周公旦的儿子伯禽封于鲁，太公望(姜子牙)封于齐，周公仍在朝摄政辅佐周成王。三年后，伯禽入朝向周公汇报政务，周公说：“为什么来得这么晚？”伯禽说：“我变革礼俗，费力不小。比如服丧，必得服满三年方得去除。”而太公到齐之后，五个月就去汇报政务，周公说：“为什么来得这么快？”太公说：“我大大简化了君臣礼仪，一切依从通俗简易。”太公后来听说了伯禽汇报政事的情况，长叹说：“鲁国后世必定会北面臣服于齐国。政治如果不简要平易，民众就不愿意接近。平易近民，民众才会归附。”所以“平易近人”本指政治的通俗简易。

可是到了唐朝，为避唐太宗-李世民讳，凡言“民”处皆改为“人”，此语也不例外。如白居易《策林》十二引用这句话时就改成了“平易近人”。这样一改，意思也就变了，从指政治变为指为人处世的态度，有时也指文章风格浅显易懂。
