鹿死谁手的典故

东晋时代，十六国中后赵的开国皇帝名叫石勒。有一天，他设宴招待高丽的使臣，喝酒喝得快醉的时候，他大声地问臣子徐光道：“我比得上自古以来的哪一上君王？徐光想了一会儿说：“您非凡的才智超过汉代的高祖，卓越的本领又赛过魏朝的始祖，从三王五帝以来，没有一个人能比得上您，您恐怕是轩辕黄帝第二吧！”石勒听后笑着说：“人怎么能不了解自己呢？你说的也太过分了。我如果遇见汉高祖刘邦，一定做他的部下，听从他的命令，只是和韩信、彭越争个高低；假使碰到光武帝刘秀，我就和他在中原一块儿打猎，较量较量，未知鹿死谁手？”后来，人们用“鹿死谁手”来比喻双方争夺的对象不知道会落在谁手里，引申指比赛双方还不知道谁胜谁负。
