老牛舐犊的典故

三国时，曹操手下有位谋士叫杨修。一次，杨修随曹操出征，攻城不下，便就地安营扎寨。这时，杨修忽听曹操说道：”鸡肋，鸡肋！”他立刻明白曹操的意思是想要退兵，便和士兵说’：“丞相打算退兵了。”这样，全营的人纷纷收拾行装，准备撤退。曹操巡营时，看到这种情况，非常吃惊，便向士兵询问原因，才知道是杨修点破了自己的心思，心里暗暗佩服杨修的敏慧，同时也很嫉妒杨修的才智。于是，借口杨修扰乱军心，把他杀了。杨修死后，杨修的父亲杨彪非常伤心，因思念儿子而日渐憔悴。曹操问他说：“杨公为什么会这般消瘦啊？”杨彪叹气说：“我自己觉得惭愧呀，我预先没有料到我儿子会有这样的结果，现在还有一种像老牛舔着自己的孩子一样的爱子之心！”曹操听后。十分感动，不免内疚。
