一手遮天的典故
李斯原是楚国上蔡人，后来到了秦国，劝说秦王，用金钱收买六国的诸侯大臣，收买不了的，就派人刺杀；离间六国的关系，然后派兵攻打。二十多年后，秦王统一了天下。李斯又上书说：“天下会大乱，是因为有各种学说流派，人听進去了，心里就会想别的。现在天下统一了，请制订完备的法令，请将诸子百家的书全部毁掉，天下就太平了。”秦始皇照办了。
晚唐诗人曹邺说：“用欺骗挑拨来获取国家利益是不对的，用法律来限制人民的思想是自取灭亡。一个人的手要掩住天下人的眼睛，这怎么可能呢！(难将一人手，掩得天下目。)”
