基本解释割臂：刺破胳臂；盟：盟约。原指春秋战国时鲁庄公与孟任割破胳臂，订下婚约。后泛指用割破手臂立誓宁约（指男女秘订婚约）。
出处《左传·庄公三十二年》：“初，公筑台，临党氏，见孟任，从之。閟。而以夫人言，许之，割臂盟公。生子般焉。”
